RE: The Future of Steem: Community Building is a Complicated Business!
To have a strong community, depends on few key people and their relationship with new comers, how they accept, support and guide. That is why there are some people who become very popular blogger and even influencers. But a community is like a little family sometimes the "kids" grow up and leave the community too :)
You post is nominated for „Wold of xpilar“ Community Support Program, @booming account upvote. Only the posts that are not cross posted, original and posted from community page are eligible. If your post gets approval, then you get upvote within few days. Good luck!
Yes @stef1, and one of the important parts of what this group offers is that they always have the time to help and encourage a newcomer. In all the communities I have been part of, there have always been those few who might be the equivalent of "whales," but they were never too busy or too self important to be helpful... and, as such, they were always excellent "ambassadors" for the community.
Thanks for the Booming nomination, as always!
It is important to "accept, support and guide" newcomers; this is true and personally I feel glad as I have encouraged some talented youths to come here and become bloggers knowing they will get the proper encouragement and also some rewards they can use to solve problems, real problems in their real lives. I've been careful to explain they need to power up whenever they can, little by little, as this is an ecosystem and we all must contribute; this is not about taking only. All that said, it is also important to take care of those users who have been here for long and try to make the best of their blogs. I had been away for a while (long story); when I came back I felt lost; I got to think quality was not actually important always you kept posting. I felt sick in the stomach, I did. You've gotta post and post and post everyday so you are considered by some people who apparently control the upvotes. It was a nightmare; I stopped posting and remember why I had decided to keep a blog here in the first place: I do stuff that I want to share and it's work which I can get to be valued both morally and economically.
You cannot control who stays or leaves in a community, @stef1, but you can be a moral person, be honest and treat users with respect. I have found that on Steemit, too, fortunately.
Best regards :)
