RE: Desert Safari in one of the World's Highest Cold Desert
Your blog made me want so badly to go back to Skardu and its cold desert.

When I went, tourism was closed due to COVID. I had all of Skardu to myself—selfish, selfish me. I absorbed and breathed in the place as if there were no other time.
The only drawback: we couldn't venture deeper into the desert dunes because there were no jeeps (no tourism) at that time. However, we did manage to reach a lake somewhere in the desert. The road had turned into a rocky path by then, but it led to the most secluded lake. We were hit by a sandstorm, and the dunes came to us, understanding our limitations.😆
This picture is beautiful.
Yeah we were told that tourism was only recently started in Sarfranga. We would've gone to Katpana otherwise.
I didn't see any lake. 😒
How lucky! You didn't have to go, dunes came to you. 😆
Jokes aside, I hope the storm wasn't too severe and you got out easily.
It came after crossing the desert.
Let me tell you one more fact...
Basically the " whole" of skardu is in cold desert 😉
Thankfully.
Yeah the locals told it doesn't rain there. I wonder how it snows in winter. Aren't both same things? Just in different state.🤔
