Building And Nurturing A Strong Family

Whatever you see in the society is simply a reflection of the individual family. As a matter of fact, family is the backbone upon which community and society are built. So if you get it right with the family, every other aspects of the society will be right, but if you get it wrong with the family, it will greatly affect the community. In order to build the kind of community you desire, you have to focus first on raising a goodly family. You will be surprised how a lot of social vices that are experienced around the world have their root in the kind of families that the perpetrators are coming from. So attention should be focused on building and nurturing a strong family to represent the society well.

A few months back, there was a particular video that went viral on the Internet and made the rounds of news, it was about a particular kid caught on camera lifting some groceries from the shop. It was very saddening to see a little kid of that age pilfering things from the shop and it raised some eyebrows. When investigation was carried out, it was discovered that the mother normally comes with him to the same shop to do the same thing and he has been observing her. So he replicated what he saw from his mum. How sad. This was the kind of character that was already nurtured by the mother to the child.

How you raise and nurture your family will be exactly what they will reflect both within their own future family and to the outside world. If you see children that are raised in an abusive home; like husband beating the wife, or vice verse, in front of the kids. They too will grow with the mentality and will think it is the norm, and they also will have the propensity of doing the same with their own future spouse - and the cycle continues. The good you want to see in the world should, as a matter of necessity, start from your own family.

Someone may ask how to build and nurture a strong family. The first on this list is to create a shared value. When there is a value to uphold, and something to point you to the right direction, you will not be seen wandering off the wrong path. It is worthy to note that the worst person you can hang around with is someone that does not have anything to lose. If your value is important to you, you will protect it by acting rightly. Creating a shared value within the family is part of the cornerstones to building a strong family. As a family, you have to have some core values you uphold. This will help to guide your actions and inactions.

The next point is to create time to be with, and share love among the family members. If you see someone that is loved back at home, you will know from their actions and how they also extend the love to others and to the world at large. There are many things to bring family together and make them share quality moments together. You can even make out time to go on vacation, family outing, hiking, etc, with the members of the family. Let them feel loved, and make them feel part of something adorable. Trust me, the memories of these will last a long time in their minds.

In addition to this, also prioritise good, effective, and efficient communication with one another. A family that communicates well bonds well. I remember what I once told a friend: "if something is doing you, your family should be the first point of call. If you are doing something, your family should also be first." The truth is that a lot of things that people sacrifice their family for will not be there for them in moments of need. Take for example; a lot of people so much submerge themselves into their work that they will have no time for their family. But if anything happens to them, the same work will not be there for them, but family will.

Whatever you do, you should do for the sake of your family. Anything that will make you to place your family last is not worth it. Always remember that when the whole world may have taken a bow, family will still stick together.
