In one of the visits to the city of Segovia, Spain, in addition to observing the aqueduct of Roman origin, I found a strange legend about a figure above taking a selfie. I come to share this interesting legend that originated on the slopes of the construction of the aqueduct famous for still standing and the origin of the devilish selfie statue.

En una de las visitas a la ciudad de Segovia, España además de observar el acueducto de origen romano encontré de una extraña leyenda sobre una figura arriba tomándose un selfie. Vengo a compartirles esta interesante leyenda que tuvo origen en las faldas de la construcción del acueducto famoso por mantenerse todavía en pie y el origen de la estatua de la selfie endiablada.

The sculpture was created by the artist José Antonio Abella. This sculpture of the devil raised a rash among the residents of Segovia who collected more than 12,000 signatures to remove it from there, they considered it a violation of the religious community.

At night he woke up to a very bright light and loud noises that came from the water source on the mountain, he got up and approached the place. The knight transformed into a devil moved and stacked large rocks, which would bring water to the town from the mountain.

En la noche se despertó ante una luz muy brillante y fuertes ruidos qué venían de la fuente de agua en la montaña, se levanto y se acercó al lugar. El caballero transformado en diablo movía y apilaba grandes rocas, qué traerían el agua hasta el pueblo desde la montaña.

Corrió muy asustada al darse cuenta que perdería su alma y pidió ayuda a sus vecinos. Al despertarse por el alboroto y los gritos de auxilio de la doncella y siendo de noche encendieron velas para alumbrarse en el camino, esto despertó al gallo de la granja que comenzó para cantar, creyendo que ya amanecía.

El diablo al escucharlo creyó qué había perdido la apuesta y se retiró furioso sin terminar el trabajo, ni llevarse el alma de la doncella.
