Park Ruins

One of the most picturesque corners of Schönbrunn Park is the "Roman Ruins" (created in 1778).

A few walls, a central arch, a pond and statues - this is all that remains of the Roman villa as conceived by the architect Ferdinand von Hohenburg. The art of creating ruins consists in preserving the line between destruction and the beauty of a once beautiful structure.
Несколько стен, центральная арка, водоём и статуи - это всё, что осталось от римской виллы по задумке архитектора Фердинанда фон Хоэнбурга. Искусство создания руин в этом и состоит, чтобы сохранить грань между разрушением и прелестью некогда прекрасного сооружения.
The ruined architectural composition was created at the foot of a wooded slope with a large clearing.

Depicting ruined buildings became popular with the advent of Piranesi's engravings with the ruins of the temples of Titus and Vespasian. Initially, the architect Ferdinand von Hohenburg called them the ruins of Carthage, but later they decided otherwise. The name "Roman Ruins" in Schönbrunn reflected the Habsburgs' claims to the transfer of power from the Romans.
Изображать разрушенные здания стало популярным с появлением гравюр Пиранези с развалинами храмов Тита и Веспасиана. Первоначально зодчий Фердинанд фон Хоэнбург назвал их развалинами Карфагена, но позднее решили иначе. Название "Римские руины" в Шёнбрунне отражало претензии Габсбургов на переход власти от римлян.
Ой... Да там каждый первый был с такими претензиями.
А по факту - из каролингов они все.
И мода эта, лепить "руины" из бетона, а'ля римские - английская - ещё одно безродное племя с претензиями.
Хороший пример медийного проекта эпохи "до интернета".
Когда начинаешь их внимательно разгядывать , невольно приходишь к мысли что их рисовала нйросеть

Так они и сегодня здороваются и прощаются ciao! Горздо чаще слышала, чем auf Wiedersehen.
Я в Вене вообще ни разу auf wiedersehen не слышал.
Он с ходу на русский, если видят, что покупатель не торгуется :))
А "чао" - пол-европы сейчас, уж и не разобрать кто-чей.
чао - это да, соглашусь, короткое и красивое слово.
Но вот как здороваются за предплечья видела только там( может я мало где была)
Похоже на старого человека, былая красота продолжает привлекать.
Фото, что схема, не передаёт пространство. Руины... но красиво!
Это ещё фонтан не работал- только после зимы всё открыли.
с человеком интересно сравнили... образно, но не для всякого справедливо)
