ON FIRE-CALL AS A HELIBRIGADE THIS MONTH. Work. Ibiza 2022.
Hi Steemians,
I´ve ot had too much time to blog about anything much as you all know, my activity here went right down a couple of months ago.
Now I have a few free days I can share some more things that have been happening here.
I still work in the wildfire brigade in Summer and this month I have a turn in the Helicopter Brigade. This is a unit of 4 firefighting working members, one ranger and the pilot. A helicopter that can carry 6 people and tools and that carries what we call a Bambi Bucket, the red sack that can carry water.
Its an HALCÓN, model ECUREUIL AS-350 B3 that can carry 900L of water.
The reason for this unit is to reach a fire quicker than by land and be able to see the affected area from above and be able to value the best tactic to fight it.
We have been vey lucky so far this summer here and we have reached the fires in time and they haven´t gotten out of hand to we can say that so far it´s been nice and quiet.
This means we still keep on training daily on various topics and physical exercise.
Here are some images from some of the action trainings.
And a little video of one of our practices last week.. I´m the third one in line.
Some pics from the helicopter while flying.
Our team last week.
Then, on Sunday a funny coincidence happened. There are only three women working in this job and over 40 men. Unusually the tree of us where working in the same unit and we decided to take a couple of pics to celebrate a day of equal number of men and women in a same team. (The pilot didnt feature in the pics)
Well, I hope you enjoy this little window into my daily life, it´s not all about art.. hahah!
Best Wishes!
Yeah, I can see that😂.
All the smiles show how much you cherish the work. It might be hard sometimes but I know you'll push through. Be safe out there and God be with you 🙏🏾
Thank you! yes, I love this job and it shows, you are right! :-)
That is absolutely impressive, to see in TV this is something that we often see, but to see someone who we know and who is an artist and normally is not heavily involved with fire-fighting that is completely different thing.
Love the exercise with helicopter, the people should be in a good physical form to be able to do that in reality.
It is nice to see that there are some more female colleagues of you and lovely photo, really enjoyed your reportage!

My respect for that!
I can't imagine still doing physically demanding and sometimes dangerous jobs in summer temperatures in that gear....
Question: do they really load this water bag with running propellers? And the crew kneels at the boarding (for safety reasons?) while the instructor stands?
Thank you for your interest in my job. We live in a very hot climate in Summer when it doesn´t rain so this job is very useful. The Bambi water bag is carried in the helicopter in a metal box that is on one of the sides. When we are flown to a fire site its kept in till we are left to the ground and that is when, as a tema we have to carefully take it out and prepare it for the helicopter to elevate with it so it can go and pick water at nearby pools or water deposits. We are then left to work with dry tools and normally the helicopter refreshes ur work from the sky.In this particular video the chief of the group doen´t walk ditching because he is very small in hight. If it was any other of the guys he would also be inclined like we were. We do it for prevention just in case one day the propellers were lower, depends on the land.
Best wishes! thank you! :-)
Somehow I had thought the latter ;-)) Sunny greetings!
Irgendwie hatte ich mir letzteres gedacht ;-)) Sonnige Grüße!
I still work in the wildfire brigade in Summer and this month I have a turn in the Helicopter Brigade.
You just shocked me :-) This is incredible and for me the combination of art and the work of a firefighter is, to put it mildly, unexpected.
Oh, I´m surprised you are shocked. Last summer I also shared a few posts about the firefighting job. As an artist life could be very unstable and I like to combine both things. :-)
Best wishes! Saludos!
Last year in July, I had just registered in Steemit, and I discovered the WOX community for myself probably somewhere in the fall. That's why I didn't know you were also a firefighter :)
I see. So wow. You evolved very quickly in Steemit!!! Impressive! Congratulations! Being a 71 I thought you had been here for much longer.
Wow! Impressive! You are a wonderful artist with so many surprises!
hahah! Well , I never wanted to only live from art because I like being free to do the art I like and not think of it as a product people want to purchase. So with this job I can combine time for my art and do something I enjoy that gives me an economical security. Artist many time have other jobs! :-)
I see! You are so practical too! Great skills you have accumulated for survival too.
Thank you!
You never cease to amaze me, what a spectacular job, I think it's still art, you work with nature and you have great skills, many physical conditions to be able to work with such a demanding team, I love it!!
Greetings and success
Thank you so much! I love everything I spend time doing, that is lucky. :-)
That's the idea enjoy!
Have a great day😉
