Have you ever seen and hold a caterpillar?
How do you feel when you see a caterpillar with thick fur?
Amused, scared, or hateful Or even all the feelings mixed together?
Have you ever walked in the garden and when you got home your body felt itchy?
It could be that itching is caused by caterpillars. But how could tiny caterpillars cause itching?
Well, it turns out that it is true that caterpillars can cause itching on our skin. The part that causes itching is the fine hairs on the caterpillar. This part contains toxins and can sometimes cause allergic reactions for some people. When the caterpillar sticks to the skin, its fur will pierce the surface of the skin and the poison will spread, causing symptoms of hives, rashes, or itching.

Symptoms

Itching from caterpillars can occur due to direct or indirect contact. If there are caterpillars crawling on our bodies and then their fur hits the skin, the skin can feel itchy. Sometimes it may not be in direct contact with these tiny animals. Many people do not realize the itching on their skin due to being exposed to caterpillars that fly in the wind.

Symptoms of caterpillar itching can appear within minutes or hours after contact with these animals. Caterpillar itching symptoms are very similar to rashes or other common skin problems.

Once hit by a caterpillar, many people can't stand it because it's uncomfortable. Itching will cause us to try to scratch it. When we scratch our bodies feel good, but after that the itching is still felt even more widespread.

The signs of caterpillar itching can usually be seen and felt such as:

  • Rash that itches, feels hot, or hurts

  • Appears itching with spots or small spots filled with water

  • Hives-like bumps

  • Itching in the form of a scar-like rash

How to Overcome

After knowing the characteristics of being affected by caterpillars, now we can try alternatives to overcome itching due to caterpillars.

1. If the caterpillar is still attached, carefully pick up the caterpillar. We can use tongs. Can also with paper or leaves. The trick is to comb the bottom of the caterpillar with paper or leaves until the caterpillar comes off. It is also possible to use gloved hands to pick up this animal.

2. Don't scratch it. Scratching looks comfortable, but it often adds to the problem. When we scratch our nails can cause blisters and lead to infection.

3. Clean the rest of the hair that sticks to the body. Use masking tape to remove any remaining fluff.

4. After making sure the caterpillars and their fine hair are no longer attached to the skin, immediately clean the affected body area with soap and hot or running water. This method can also reduce the remaining toxins in the skin.

5. Change clothes and clean by washing them thoroughly

6. Apply eucalyptus oil to feel warm and reduce itching.

7. Apply grated turmeric to the itchy and itchy parts of the body.

8. Apply Virgin Coconut Oil.

9. Compress with ice to relieve the itching sensation on the skin.

10. If the itching is severe, use a steroid ointment or take an antihistamine.

11. Visit a doctor and consult a doctor immediately if it still doesn't work and symptoms persist.

Thus my writing this time about some ways to overcome if we are exposed to caterpillars that cause itching. May be useful.
