CITYSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY AND ART CONTEST WEEK #056 - Livorno and its contrast [Eng - Ita]

Modern cities thrive on contrasts.
I took this photo a few years ago, while I was taking the boat tour in the canals of Livorno (Tuscany).
On the left you can see the New Fortress of Livorno, built in the late 1500s, while on the right there is an obviously modern house.
In Livorno there are many contrasts of this type, above all because having been bombed during the Second World War, the reconstruction was such an urgent need to set aside the aesthetic side.
Over time, however, Ancient and Modern have ended up creating a certain harmony in their own way, which in my opinion perfectly reflects the character of the city and the people of Livorno.
Last year here in Livorno there was a very interesting exhibition that accentuated this almost ridiculous contrast between ancient neglected wonders and unpretentious and rather hasty "modern solutions".
The exhibition was by George Tatge, a world-famous photographer who was definitely not from Livorno but was very fascinated by the city of Livorno. The name of the exhibition was "Lights of Livorno", as Tatge was particularly impressed by the light of this city. You can certainly find some of her wonderful photos online.
Definitely much more beautiful than this one that I share with you, made by myself with a Nikon D90.

Le città moderne vivono di contrasti.
Ho scattato questa foto ormai qualche anno fa, mentre facevo il giro in battello nei fossi (canali) di Livorno (Toscana).
Sulla sinistra potete osservare la Fortezza Nuova di Livorno, costruita alla fine del 1500, mentre sulla destra si trova un'abitazione evidentemente moderna.
A Livorno si trovano molti contrasti di questo tipo, soprattutto perché essendo stata bombardata nel corso della seconda guerra mondiale, la ricostruzione è stata un'esigenza così impellente da accantonare il lato estetico.
Con il tempo, comunque, antico e moderno hanno finito per creare a modo loro una certa armonia, che a mio avviso rispecchia perfettamente il carattere della città e dei livornesi.
Lo scorso anno qui a Livorno c'è stata una mostra molto interessante che accentuava proprio questo contrasto quasi ridicolo tra antiche meraviglie trascurate e le "soluzioni moderne" senza troppe pretese e piuttosto sbrigative.
La mostra era di George Tatge, un fotografo di fama mondiale decisamente non livornese ma rimasto molto affascinato dalla città di Livorno. Il nome della mostra era “Luci di Livorno”, poiché Tatge era rimasto particolarmente colpito dalla luce di questa città. Online potete certamente trovare alcune delle sue meravigliose foto.
Decisamente molto più belle di questa che condivido con voi, fatta dal sottoscritto con una Nikon D90.
