Map Drawing - A Distant Planet - Ran Art Blog
Listening to a song by David Bowie, I decided to draw a map of a distant planet, from imagination.
It took ~17 hours.
I used a 0.1 fine liner (pen).
Sometimes, I like an old looking paper, or an antique looking scroll.
First, I burn the edges of the paper (it is optional).
Note: using fire is dangerous and should be done outside, with a grownup supervision.
Next, I immerse the paper in water with concentrated tea or coffee.
Lastly, I leave it to dry.
Now I can draw on it a pirate treasure map.
Or, a world map.
I used a colored paper for drawing the planet map.
There we go again:

As children, my brother and I liked to make the treasure map with burnt edges, not with such a detailed drawing of course :) Was so fun!
As a child, I loved the maps that came with PC games. Today everything is online...
