I first drew with a pen.
Paying attention to structure, and brightness values.
When painting, there are 4 color attributes to pay attention too:
Hue
Brightness values
Saturation
Temperature (warm and cool colors).
Tip:
Reflections, usually, show less details, and their edges are less defined.

Markers are not the best way to go for realism. Oil paints are more suitable. But it is doable.
