Chess Rook - Ran Art Blog - B&W PHOTOGRAPHY AND ART CONTEST WEEK #143
Graphite drawing of a chess rook.
When drawing a cylindrical object, the key is to determine the amount of foreshortening for each ellipse (foreshortened circle), depending on its distance from the horizon (in this case).
Then, find the center of the ellipse for individual parts (rook's top).

@jae5086: My buddy and I have been playing chess on and off (especially in winter months) for what feels like forever. We're usually pretty even in terms of wins/losses...until the last year or so. Most recently, we brought it out again and played until 5:30 in the morning last weekend then another game a couple night ago. I'm up 5-1 and the one lose I was playing like a fool just because I already won 3 straight. Great game and love the art.
Thank you. I had the same thing with backgammon. So many games with so many friends. With one we had a contest that ran for more than 100 games, and we were quite even. If I remember correctly, most of the time I was leading in a game or two, which made his life miserable :o)
I played chess when I was younger.
