This close-up was my entry to 'Photo of the week' challenge by @mister-omortson — week #71 prompt was 'Flowers'. I chose to present my recent photos from the Victory Park at St.Petersburg. I did found some 'winter flowers' growing across the snow. The remnants of the soviet epoch.

In my previous post I asked if anybody can guess what it is, nobody dared to give any suggestions. Ok, I will tell you. These are decorative elements of a fountain.

location: St.Petersburg, Russia February 2022 natural light
camera/lens: Canon 5D Sigma 150mm .raw-conv

I have applied some photoshop processing to the camera .raw files.
Below is unedited version 'as camera saw it', if you are curious.

I have made several attempts to photograph this piece of architecture in the past, which is quite difficult - the fountain is large, and its individual small elements do not add up to a beautiful picture. Snow, from which individual cast-iron flowers stick out, gave a completely new vision to the picture. I really liked the result that I got (especially with the addition of a pinch of cross-processing in Photoshop).

=) !shop

Мерси!

those are some kind of steel flowers,

not exactly steel, but iron ones, yes.
wouldnt it be a creative move to throw them in for the challenge?

iron you are right!!!! very original i would say! or unexpected!!!

They leave a strange feeling. And the snow only makes it worse. Obviously not snowdrops. But they look like a stone flower. I love this contrast. Here the Eternal and the transient met.

Obviously not snowdrops.

definitely no.
