The “Green Deserts” and Rieselfelder Münster
Hello my dear Steemians,
This is the new account “Planetwild” by @stef1 and @myskye. This account is about collecting Steem for the PlanetWild project. That's why I'm going to post once a day. Everything we get together here (Steem, SBD, SP) goes to the project. Then let's see what we can do here...
I hope you've all have had lovely few days so far. I don't have much time for this post today either, the next Christmas party is coming up and because we are only here for about two weeks we would like to use them in their full range. Today I would like to present you the beautiful photography of the wild live that were captured once again in the Rieselfelder Münster and a small overview map of the nature reserve.
The nature reserve offers numerous endangered bird species an undisturbed retreat. Over 130 different species have already been counted. The official Rieselfelder Münster website provides a species list of bird species observed (see web links).
We have been a member of the Rieselfelder Friends and Supporters Group for over 25 years. The smaller and local projects also need……. Support!!
Monoculture, “Green Deserts”
It’s estimated that 38% of the global land surface is currently used for agriculture—around five billion hectares. With the global population doubling since the 1960s, the increased demand for resources has cleared vast areas of forest, grassland, wetland and other crucial ecosystems to make way for crop farming on a massive scale.
Agricultural land is used to grow and harvest the vital food staples needed to feed our continuously growing population. We plant single kinds of trees over and over for wood. These practices have resulted in massive monocultures—areas consisting of just one or two plant varieties—that not only negatively impacts local biodiversity but the future of agriculture itself.
