Short Story | Contest.

She told herself, this would not end in tears again. All the projects she had been working on the previous years were merely surviving and she got tempted often to give up. When such thoughts crossed her mind, she always remembered how she had packed her bags and moved to the America for a better life. It had been four years now and she had not gotten any call backs for her book which she had diligently sent to various publishing houses.

She told herself she was going to give it one more shot and if it did not turn out right, she would pack her bags and just come home and concede defeat. She gave it a year, and poured her all in making sure the book got noticed by all the right people. Each day she woke up with fierce determination and made sure when she went to sleep, she was satisfied with the work she did even though no result came through.

The year went by and it was one week to the end of the year. She was exhausted as hell, hopes were already down but what kept her moving was the determination to give it her best. New eve approached and no call, mail had come through. She started packing her bags and had already accepted fate. She asked herself , what difference would a night make? The new year begun and as she was moving in her cab to the airport, her phone rung. She got the news of a lifetime.

Her book was going to be published, alongside a movie deal and she was going on tour and her future works would also be taken into consideration. She screamed and danced and told her cab driver to take her back home in the streets of NewYork. She was so grateful that her work had not gone in vain.
