Trip to Chopok in Slovakia

Hi.

Almost every year we have a visitor from the neighboring Czech Republic. They are very good friends of my parents. We are still trying to come up with a program for them. We want them to relax and feel good in Slovakia, but at the same time to see and experience something interesting.

One of the places where we haven't been together yet is the Chopok mountain, so we went to it. It is one of the most popular tourist hills in the Low Tatras with an altitude of 2023.6 meters above sea level. One of its advantages is its accessibility. Despite being so high, it is easily accessible thanks to the cable car that goes all the way to the top. It is important for us, because not everyone can climb a high mountain peak, and my parents and our visit are only of their age.

We pass through the Demänovská valley, where there are two beautiful caves. Demänovská Ice Cave and Freedom Cave. I will write about them in the following posts.

We park in the parking lot below the hill and go to buy tickets. This place is also known for organizing women's slalom and giant slalom events in Jasná. Chopok - Jasná is a popular ski resort for all skiers, but as you can see, the nature and surroundings are beautiful even in the summer.

And we're already dating.

We get on the cable car and can calmly admire the surrounding nature.

Approximately in the middle is the transfer station to the second cable car, which will take us to the top.

Almost, because the real peak of Chopok is located a few meters away.

There is a wonderful view of the surroundings from Chopek. To the High Tatras, but you can also see another mountain of the Low Tatras from it, and that is Ďumbier. For lovers of hiking, I definitely recommend walking along the ridge of the Low Tatras from Chopek to Ďumbier. I would go there right away, but I can't leave them here alone.

You can also reach Chopok from the other side, from the Srdiečko resort. A cable car goes to the top from this side as well, as well as a hiking trail.

We enjoy the views of the surroundings. The weather is beautiful. The wind is quite strong here, but we are still at a high altitude and we can expect such natural conditions here.

We bought a ticket for only one direction, up. We are already walking down the hiking trail that goes under the cable car. I'll tell you honestly that I'd rather go somewhere in the woods. When hiking, I like nature and, if possible, untouched nature.

Along the way, I stop from time to time to take pictures of the plants that grow here. They beautify this environment and make it more colorful.

After a short hike, we are down at the parking lot. We are happy and satisfied that we saw and experienced something new again. We have many new experiences and memories that we will talk about for a long time.

We regretted going down on foot the next day. Those of you who go hiking surely know why. We have a muscle car. Going up is better than going down. This rule has been confirmed once again.
