#club5050 Seafood At The Aqua Bar

The Aqua Bar here in Pevensey Bay is within a ten minute walk from the train station. Therefore it is ever so easy to call in for food and some drinks.

There are trains every hour from London Bridge and an off-peak return ticket gives you the most flexibility as you can come back to the city within a month.

No food was served in the Aqua Bar during the winter months but now it is back and is a success. There are about twenty meals on the menu to choose from.

The usual pub classics like a pie and chips or fish and chips which came with a big helping of peas are of course on the menu. The goat cheese quiche was already sold out but I didn’t mind as this was not what I intended to order.

I went for the fancy and healthier option, the locally caught crab.

It was served on a seashell-shaped plate and in its own shell of course. It was a big crab providing you lots of tasty brown and white meat to nibble on.

The fresh salad was delicious, well-seasoned and went well with the crab. The only hot element of my meal were the baby new potatoes cooked in butter.

We arrived here around seven o’clock and it was just right as food is served till quarter to eight. The place has just been refurbished so you get to enjoy new, comfortable chairs and tables.

It was just a bit too early in the year for having dinner outside but a table with a sea view was the perfect choice for us.

We chatted to the bartender and a few of the regulars and even had a laugh. There is usually live music here on Saturday till about 5pm and they just started selling tickets for a meat raffle.

The pebbly beach here seems endless and it is very peaceful this time of the year with just a few dog walkers out and about.

I bet it is livelier in summer when many tourists will flock down here to enjoy the Sunshine Coast.
