#club5050 Floatplanes
I took many flights that day. I took off and landed multiple times. I love flying so I totally enjoyed it.
I got a front-row window seat which is certainly the best for this experience!
This floatplane excursion starting in Vancouver, Canada, left of the popular cruise ship port, is known as the Mail Run.
So my family and I were the mail runners that day and had the pleasure of visiting a few quite remote islands.
A stunning view of Vancouver from the floatplane.
No, we didn’t visit Victoria but yes, there is a separate flight that takes you straight there right from the heart of Vancouver.
So our floatplane trip began with a flight over to Gulf Islands together with a bunch of local commuters.
The maximum luggage allowance here is just 11 kg (25 pounds). Make sure you have an ID on you as like on any other flight you need to check-in, get a boarding pass and then you will be allowed on the aircraft itself.
There are plenty of complimentary refreshments available before boarding including fresh juicy fruit, cookies, biscuits, water, tea and coffee.
You have time to explore the Gulf Islands and get to know how the people live on this part of Canada’s west coast. There certainly isn’t much going on here but it seems ideal for when you decide to finish that book which you have been writing for quite a few years now or just work your day-to-day job remotely which is actually easier.
Then we also landed on the much livelier Salt Spring Island before returning to Vancouver in the evening. Here you can grab a bite to eat, a drink and also shop for a handmade bag to match your new outfit and souvenirs to take home of course. Then I recommend you enjoy some time on the black sandy beach which is full of oysters and is just about half an hour away, opposite the Harbour House Hotel.
There are quite a few birds around and even deer. The weather is pretty changeable here so if you arrive and you are welcomed with a greyish cloudy sky don’t rush to take the first floatplane back.
Cool experience! Much better than in a big Airbus or Boeing...
💯 Thanks my lovely! So much better indeed and quieter than a helicopter 🚁
Helicopters I don't like; feels like riding a camel...
You remind me of someone! I like that helicopters can land pretty much everywhere e.g. on top of a mountain by a lake 🏞
Of course there are benefits...
Looks like you're having a great time. Apparently, these are unforgettable impressions. The photos are just great, you could transport me to Canada for a moment.
Thank you ever so much 📸 I am glad that you like what you see 🇨🇦 Have you maybe been to Finland? Canada is very much like it!
No, unfortunately I did not have the opportunity to visit any of the Nordic countries. But I hope that such an opportunity will arise :)
A beautiful trip with your family. The photographs are impressive. Luxury your trip to Canada. I hope you enjoy your stay in this wonderful place. Cheers
Upvoted! Thank you for supporting witness @jswit.
I'm glad you enjoyed that wonderful trip, I'm a little afraid of the planes, I don't see them as light, ha ha, but at the same time I see them as more comfortable, private, spectacular landscapes teach us!
Enjoy big!
Cheers!
Are you still wearing masks?
Today I was told that at the company where I work, many cases of covid began to appear. A new wave is coming.
The masks are still compulsory in Canada when you fly based on their civil law. You can only take them off when you are actively eating or drinking. So in a way this encourages some passengers to keep pressing the button on the plane and get more and more of the included drinks.
Two of the IT guys at work called in sick today as they both got Covid. I got an email from my GP that I can't call in at the practice due to the high number of Covid cases. So we are back to seeking medical assistance and consultations online, we have two apps for these. I still haven't had Covid to the best of my knowledge and I hope it stays this way. Stay safe my friend!
Oh, shit. Covid again and another plus is monkey pox.
Again, we need to be careful and get masks.
Take care of yourself, petface!
What a beautiful place, I would like to go there someday. Excellent pictures.
Thanks for sharing. Greetings and success
