City Girl
On one of many trips of mine to Mexico, I took it easy and spent some quality time with friends who live in Guadalajara. Then, I stopped in Guanajuato on my way to Mexico City where I was getting together with a Japanese friend of mine. She was actually treated like a celebrity just because of her country of origin. How cool is that I thought! Anyway, back to the authentic Guanajuato with its vibrant city life. Every afternoon I enjoyed climbing the, one too many, steps up here to this stunning viewpoint.

It is free to pop up here and take it all in. You can also spare some change for the scenic lift up and then walk down the steps. I was looking around and quite happy with the many locals who were flocking here: students, parents and grand parents with children and pets. For the vast majority of them the view didn't have the wow factor. I get it, they reside here and just take it for granted. Then, there she is, Gabriela, the girl I photoed and had a chat with. She is from the city. She's been up here before and she will come again. No doubt about that. She was excited and going from one end of the viewing platform to the other with a genuine smile on her face. Gabriela certainly enjoyed the sun on her skin and the wind messing with her hair while looking at her home town from above.
So what really to take away from here? Plain and simple, make the most of every day. Go out, do what you love to do and why not be a tourist in your own city!
It's wonderful to know about your visit to México, and to a city which I haven't had the pleasure to know. A little of Guadalajara, yes. You've captured a beautiful shot, and great advice in conclusion!!
Thanks for share on the World of Xpilar!!
Thank you ever so much @leveuf 💁♀️ I love blogging about my travels and I am pleased when such posts of mine are well received here in WOX. I hope one day when you visit the west coast or happen to be around Mexico City you will also check out Guanajuato and no doubt you fill fall in love with this quaint city.
I'm sure I would love Guanajuato, I'll take any chance to go there! I'm happy you've enjoyed, I wonder if you visited the famous mummies! :)
Best wishes for life and projects!!
It’s lovely to hear from you @leveuf 💁♀️I didn’t pay the mummies a visit simply because I didn’t know about them when I was in Guanajuato. On the bright side this just gives me one more reason to go back there 🙃 Take care and we keep in touch 🤝
That's perfect, glad to give you a reason to visit México again!! You can visit Yucatán too, also a beautiful place, mostly if you like archeology or Mayan culture!! :)
Best winds for your journeys, @Petface!!
Thanks a lot @leveuf I’m always really keen on visiting archeological sites 💁♀️ I checked out Chichen Itza where even an Australian friend of mine wrote some music, I sketched and photoed nature 📸 I remember having one of the best ice-creams in my life in Valladolid.
Nowadays once you sort the time and money issues, you get yourself anywhere but back in time like to see the dinosaurs and all the ancient cultures and what they really did, why and how 😱
I'm starting to think that maybe you'll need to make me some recommendations to visit here!! ;-)
Hugs and best vibes!!
😜 I’m always glad to draft an itinerary 💁♀️Wishing you a successful week @leveuf and we’ll keep in touch 🤝
Wow, that is impressive, love that colourful town :)
