Club75 - Kapikaya Cave 🌳🪨

Hello, dear Steemians;

Today I will talk about a hidden gem that is not well known in my country. The ancient city of Kapıkaya, located in Güneyce village of Isparta, located in the southern region of Turkey. This ancient city was founded in the Hellenistic period, and only ruins have survived to the present day. But the place I will talk about today is not these ruins, but the cave located right next to the ancient city.

Although this cave is very close to the ancient city, it is not well known due to its location. To reach the cave, you will have to climb up the mountain a little after you reach the ancient city. While I was trekking, I had the chance to see this place thanks to our guide.

The most striking feature of this cave is the walnut tree 🌳 that grows in it. If you visit during the season, you can have the chance to eat walnuts from the branch. The cave is also called "Hollow Cave" by the local people.

The entrance of the cave is 40 meters wide and its total length is 87 meters. For this reason, it is estimated that it was used as a sanctuary and shelter in ancient times. Today, the villagers keep their animals such as goats and sheep in this cave.

I said that you have to climb a hill to reach the cave. This is the view you will see on the way to the cave. I am sure that those who want to be isolated from the city and completely intertwined with nature will be satisfied with this trip.
