Lucy the blue-whale | My entry in @adeljose contest

Once there was a huge blue colored whale seen by the fishermen in my area which was a rare event according to them. So I decided to study about these blue whales. Although I had not seen the whale ( I named her Lucy) but could imagine and draw on paper.

The blue whale is a huge fish among sea creatures. It has species such as sperm whale, killer whale, pilot whale, beluga whale, etc. The blue whale is the largest of these. It weighs 115 feet and weighs between 150 and 170 tons, while some whales are also 11 feet. Whale fish have also been associated with human civilization for centuries. Tales of whale fish are prevalent in many countries.

Whales came into existence at sea 50 million years ago. Like other mammalian creatures, the whale breathes in the air, its blood is warm, feeds the children and has hair on its body. Whale fish have a thick skin, known as blubber. It gathers energy and protects its body.

It has a spine, some bones and a four-chamber heart. Its neck is very flexible, which can rotate round while swimming. It breathes through blowholes. Baleen whales have two blowholes while toothed whales have one blowhole. It is on the top of their head. When the whale breathes through the blowholes, a large amount of water also accumulates in its lungs, which is then pumped back out as a fountain.

Two ends at the end of the whale's tail help it to turn while swimming. The whale accepts the outer voice from its throat and from there the sound reaches the inner ear. The female whale gives birth to one child at a time. She feeds her baby her milk. Its milk is thick like a toothpaste. The children live with their mother for one year.

Like most creatures, the whale also relaxes. All other animals can sleep, but the whale never sleeps for long. Its body is round in such a way that if it falls asleep it dies by drowning. Only its brain sleeps for some time. It leaps over the water like an attacker and bangs its tail vigorously on the water.

Whales make a sweet sound called whale song when contacting their other companions. This sound is very loud. Equivalent to about 20 thousand watts. It is heard for miles away. Whale food is fish.
