Unexpected Find
As I mentioned, Christmas is celebrated on January 7 in Eastern Europe. Christmas is a family holiday, so everyone goes to their parents to get together. We were no exception. We spent Christmas with my wife's parents, and the next day we went to visit my parents.
After we had lunch, my daughter wanted to look at the photos when Dad was little. Finding these photos was no easy task. I had to sort through various old documents, other old photographs, even very old magazines, school notebooks and other junk.
In the midst of all this, I came across a folder unknown to me. I was interested in what might be in it. I opened it and what I saw surprised me. There were paintings painted on very smooth thick paper. They were painted in ink.
I was even more surprised when I looked at the back of the paintings. They were dated 1977-1978 and were drawn by my father (!) and dedicated to my mother. It turns out my father was a romantic :)
But it's not about romanticism, I never thought my father ever painted. Why didn't he further develop this talent? I immediately addressed this question to him. He replied that in those days artists were forced to paint ideological communist posters, and he never shared such views.
Here are some of the works I found:
Felicidades tienes un padre maravilloso y todo un artista.
Que bueno que tomen una fecha para reunirse familiarmente y puedan reunirse con sus padres, eso es genial.
Que bueno que halla buena relación con los padres de tu esposa eso es fantástico.
Los dibujos están muy auténticos y hermosos. Saludos desde Venezuela.
Thank you.
Those paintings are fantastic. I also didn't know that about Christmas being celebrated in January, very interesting.
When the western churches switched to the Gregorian calendar, the eastern ones remained on the old Julian calendar. Since then, they celebrate holidays on different days.
These are wonderful illustrations! Such a treasure!
Thank you, these drawings are 45 years old, and I did not know about their existence ☺️
These drawings are just my age! hahaha!
Your father has a good eye and draws perfect proportions... The examples are great! (May be animals are not his special talent ;-))
The problem your father desribed have had a lot of artists in socialist countries.
Yes, they were all employed in factories and according to documents were operators, cooks, electricians. Even footballers were paid as factory workers.
