The World Is Not Without Good People
People never cease to amaze me. Some surprise me with their cruelty, others with kindness.
When the war broke out, I started receiving offers of help here on Steemit, sometimes from people I didn't know. These were very specific proposals, some offered asylum in their country, some material assistance, some useful advice.
I really considered the possibility of sending my wife and daughter abroad. However, they refused to leave until the situation threatened their lives. Fortunately, the fighting has not yet advanced into our region.
I turned down the first offers of financial aid because I am in the rear, I am not in danger, I still have a job and I have enough money of my own even to help others. However, friends from Steemit insisted, and I received 1000 STEEM.
Here I want to briefly inform you what I did with this money.
At first, I didn't spend it, thinking that I would probably have to take my family abroad. Later, I waited until the price of STEEM rose to 0.42 cents, I exchanged money and withdrew it to my bank account.
It is worth noting that many people come to us who have lost everything. They need to start life over. We help as much as we can, but the needs are, of course, much greater. So I decided to spend some of the money on refugee assistance.
To find out what people who help refugees need most right now, I visited their local headquarters. I learned that they have plenty of clothes and hygiene items, but there is not enough food. So I went shopping for food.
In the supermarket I bought cereals, pasta, flour, oil, canned food and other products. But I know that there are many children among the refugees, so I also bought a few boxes of cookies, chocolates, sugar, coffee and tea.
I spent about 250 STEEM. Next Saturday I plan to make another such purchase. Thus, half of the donation will be spent on food for refugees. I will not spend the other half in case my family's security situation deteriorates.
I cannot ignore the shock that we Ukrainians experienced after the Russian troops left the cities near Kyiv. @antorv wrote about this in her post. I have nothing more to add. I can't comment on that, because this shouldn't happen in the 21st century, this shouldn't happen to anyone, and I can't imagine a person capable of such atrocities. It turns out that such non-humans live very close.
The Russians are trying to deny the atrocities of their servicemen, saying that the Ukrainian media is lying. Therefore, I would like to draw your attention to the following sources of information:
Take a look at the photos and videos at the links provided, don't look away, here you will see what the Ukrainian people are fighting against.
Woe has come to my city once again. Two brothers were killed in a battle with Russian troops. It's hard for me to imagine what the parents of these guys are going through now.
In the first frames of this video you can see how the dead heroes are seen off in Ukraine in the last journey:
That's all, I don't want to write anything more. I feel too devastated.
I wish you peace, harmony, goodness and love.
First of all, I want to thank you personally for constantly supporting Ukrainians with your comments. It is immediately obvious that this topic worries you a lot.
Unfortunately, I do not think that Putin will be judged, he will avoid responsibility. Some of his henchmen may end up behind bars.
I am sure that much depends on the outcome of her war. If Ukraine does not survive, Putin will start terrorizing the free democracies of Europe. This may be the threat of a direct attack, or the constant threat of nuclear strikes, misinformation, financing of protest movements, etc.
Watching the video touches me deep in my heart
Dear @o1eh, I think one of the hardest decisions in life would be to send your wife and daughter abroad in such a situation. However, it seems that the situation has reached that point.
I am sure it is unbearable to see innocent people die and to witness this massacre continue. The more I read the posts of our Ukrainian friends, the more I see the disgusting face of the war. I wish you a lot of stamina and strength.
Wishing you peaceful days
Thank you, I see that the topic of the war in Ukraine worries you, which means that human values are dear to you.
So far I can't persuade my wife and daughter to go abroad, they don't want to go without me. Maybe they are doing the right thing. If they had gone abroad, they would have spent all the money by now and they would have to return. I will wait until the fighting approaches our region and then I will send them for sure. But we believe in our army and hope that it will not allow further advance of Russian troops into the territory of Ukraine. And yet, we hope that someday peace will come :)
Unfortunately, it is sad to see people die.
Hi o1eh, this whole thing is like a nightmare. Your country, which I saw on the news today, made me very sad again... It was like dystopian movies about the future, and I said, here's the world living in a dystopia. Abandoned buildings, curtains flying out of windows, shattered dreams, disrupted lives, everything happened at once. We share your pain and are very sorry.
Perhaps the most powerful thing in life is hope. These damn days will be over, no suffering lasts forever. Then, that's you will rebuild your country with your souls strengthened by painful memories. I hope you will always be together with your wife and child. May peace and safe come to your lands as soon as possible.
A bus with refugees came to us yesterday. It was extremely sad to look at these people. They arrived without things, in dirty clothes, apparently immediately ran from the shelter to the bus. Fear and uncertainty could be read in their eyes.
If we survive this war, we will become stronger. We will definitely rebuild a country that will be even better than it was. Someday you will be proud of a neighbor like us :)
It is easy to give up, the hard and honorable thing is to resist. On the way to the end, the process is more important than the result. Your resistance in this process is enough for the world to be proud of you all. That's why we will always be proud of you :)
Thank you, we really appreciate the support of the world, and I appreciate your support. When we feel that we are not alone, we become much stronger :)
I'm glad you feel this way. Definitely, you are not alone :)
It breaks my heart to see so many unjustified deaths, I am glad that it collaborates with the refugees with little to a lot, everything counts, unfortunately we must also think about our family and its future, hopefully this nightmare ends soon, meanwhile we can collaborate with the more needy, if we don't have money we can donate clothes, shoes, even toys because the children ran out of them, I personally donated $10 days ago is not much but look for more people and we raise $185 we send it to a refugee center, my friend who is in Spain made sure that it arrived, we can all help in any way! Much faith that it will end soon!
Greetings!
It is a miracle that even people from Venezuela send donations. Thank you. I hope that some refugees will be able to return home, as part of Ukraine has already been liberated from occupation.
Війна то завжди повна *****!
Чекаємо скорішого завершення! Звісно з перемогою!
Don't wait too long to leave. You can always return when things improve, but leaving will become more and more difficult. Everything could change in a moment. <3
So far, our army has repulsed the first terrible attack by the Russians. In two or three days there will be a second attack. I will see how events unfold.
Many of those people who left at the beginning of the war are now forced to return. They ran out of money. I need to choose the right time to send my family abroad.
Nevertheless, I believe that our army will be able to maintain its defense.
I saw on the news that the Russians are moving toward Odessa. :-(
If you are not already aware, there is an opportunity to find safety in Canada AND receive a work permit. A work permit would ensure that you and your partner could earn a living while staying in Canada.
I will post the link to the registration portal here: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/ukraine-measures/portal-application-ukraine-cuaet.html
I encourage you to apply. Even if you decide not to leave Ukraine, you would still have this option as an insurance policy for your family.
Best wishes!
Thank you, you are a person with a big heart :)
In any case, I can not leave the country, but I will take your advice and register my wife and daughter.
Such a nice post
Nice? About cruel war, nice post?
