Harvest Time - Playing photographer #40

Hello, World of Xpilar!

Here in our town, the rice harvesting season has finally started. The technique of harvesting rice now here in our town is already fully automated using a multi-harvester. In the 1990s, harvesting rice was done manually (by hand) which can take one to two weeks to harvest a 2 hectares of rice crops and after harvesting the rice it would be fed on a stationary machine called "Tresher". The photo below is a multi-harvester currently harvesting rice when I took the photograph.

Today, there are still lots of farmers here in our country where harvesting rice is still done by hand and then fed to a thresher. But here in our town harvesting is now fully automated a 2 hectare can be harvested in just 2-3 hours depending on the condition of the rice plants.

Whenever there is a farmer currently harvesting a lot of agents/buyers will come and see the rice crops and then they will do some bidding. The one with the highest bid will be the one who is going to win and buy the harvested rice. Below is a photograph of an agent arriving to take part in the bidding.

After the bidding, the truth of the buyer will then arrive in just a matter of minutes. If the harvesting is still ongoing the truck will wait until all the rice crops are harvested and loaded to the truck. After all the rice sacks are loaded onto the truck, the truck will then travel to the buying station of the buyer for the truck scaling. After scaling the truck the payment will then be given to the farmer in cash. That's how fast the transaction now is selling rice harvests here in our town. Compared to the old method which can take weeks. The process now can only take less than a day from harvesting to selling.

In the photo below, the first vehicle is the owner of the rice being harvested, and trailing is another agent/buyer who is going to participate in the bidding. Usually, there are about 5-7 agents/buyers participating in the bidding.

By the way, after the multi-harvester is done, carabao with carts then come in to transport the sacks of rice into the truck of the buyer which is usually near a road. Below is a photo of some of the carabaos transporting the sacks of tice to the truck of the buyer.
