Painting St. George
Saint George was a soldier who is often shown in art as killing a dragon.
He is revered as the protector of cavalry and knights.
According to the legend, a huge dragon lived in a lake in Palestine, which caused great problems for the population. The dragon often came out of the lake and ate people who would be near the lake or influence the appearance of various diseases with its breath. The inhabitants of this area turned to their ruler, who told them to sacrifice one child every day on the shore of the lake. Since then, every morning, one child was left by the lake and the dragon would eat him. When it was the turn of the daughter of that ruler, Saint George came, riding a horse, with a spear in his hand. Then George took his spear and killed the dragon. The people were grateful to George, so in his honor they marked this date as a holiday.
I hope you like this legend, which has been retold since ancient times, but I also hope that you will like my drawing that shows St. George as a soldier who kills a dragon. :)
