Decubrí el insecto de esta fotografía cuando tomaba fotografías a las maracuyás. Este llamativo insecto tiene como extraer el jugo de la parchitas o maracuyá. Aunque he visto con frecuencia a los bachacos asaltando las plantas de parchitas, es la primera vez que observo estos alados bichos. Me llamó la atención que permanecía inmóvil sobre la fruta madura. Al ver la fotografía en la computadora entendí porque, estaba chupando la parchita.

I discovered the insect in this photograph when I was taking pictures of passion fruit. This striking insect has as it extracts the juice of the parchitas or passion fruit. Although I have frequently seen the bachacos robbing patch plants, it is the first time that I have observed these winged critters. I was struck by the fact that he remained motionless on the ripe fruit. When I saw the photograph on the computer, I understood why I was sucking on the patch.
