Good afternoon, everyone! I hope you are doing well :) Today, it's not raining in São Miguel. It's a somewhat gray day, but it's not raining... a break in the rain to comfort the soul! I share with you a photo of a lighthouse (Gonçalo Velho) on the island of Santa Maria... known as the Island of the Sun! In a privileged location, it is a must-visit for those traveling to the island. The southernmost island in the archipelago is characterized by a drier and warmer climate than the others. It is also the oldest island, with the oldest volcanic outcrop dated to around 8 million years ago. It features a wide variety of landscapes, divided in half by a chain of volcanic peaks running from north to south, culminating in Pico Alto. I recommend the great route, a hiking trail that surrounds the entire island, divided into several stages, where hikers can stay overnight in small restored houses. This lighthouse is simply breathtaking, considering its location. I hope you enjoy :)
