AFTERNOON AT SEA
The afternoon is of radiant gold: blazing
The horizon: a purple cactus.
And the slender wave that pulses and undulates,
With a fragile grace of a child,
Places its ermine mantle on the sand
And goes, and follows its destiny!
And the sun, setting the white houses on fire,
Draws bloody hands of an assassin!
What a beautiful afternoon opened over the sea!
It casts bundles of roses from the sky
That Apollo entertains himself by shedding...
And, over me, in throbbing gestures,
Your tanned, miraculous hands
Are the wings of the sun, dying...
