So many women in your past, so many!
So much shadow around! But what do I care?
If from them came the dream that comforts,
Their coming was three times blessed!
Grass of the earth that God's hand lifts,
Withered leaves at your door...
When I am a poor dead thing,
So many women still! So many! So many!
But I am the morning: I extinguish stars!
You will see me, kiss me in all of them,
Even on the lips of the most beautiful one!
And when the last one finally comes,
In that vibrant body of a woman
It will be mine that you will still find...
