Madalena, due to its geographical position in front of Faial and the city of Horta, away from this approximately 7.5 km, is the main communications hub of the island, a position that makes it a privileged gateway to appreciate everything that is offered to whom we visit.
True “ex-libris”, bordering the village, are the curious Lying and Standing Islanders, where sea birds nest. These are strongly degraded by the marine erosive action, constituting the remnants of a volcanic cone associated with underwater eruptions.
