WILD ROSEBUSH
There is such a gleam in your golden eyes
And in your smile so much brightness,
That remembering you is to feel longing
For a wild rosebush all in bloom.
Your hands were made for sorrow,
For gestures of sweetness and compassion;
And your kisses of dream and yearning
Are like the burning soul of love itself!
I was born wrapped in beggar's clothes;
And by giving me your wonderful love,
You gave me the golden mantle of a queen!
Your sister... your love... and your friend...
And also – all in bloom – your daughter,
My wild rosebush that is mine alone!...
