Baralt Theater
The Baralt Theater is a neoclassical style building for theatrical, dance and musical performances, located a short distance from the Bolivar Square (Plaza Bolívar) in the city of Maracaibo, in western Venezuela.
Its construction began on July 28, 1877 by the engineer Manuel de Obando, and finally, after six years of work, it was inaugurated on July 24, 1883, with a capacity for a little more than 400 spectators. Among the most important events that took place in the theater, it is worth mentioning that it was the first stage where a cinematographic film was projected in Venezuela, which took place on July 11, 1896.
Subsequently, the building was demolished in 1928 in order to expand its capacity to almost 1000 people, being rebuilt according to the design of the Belgian architect Leon Jerome Höet, reopening on December 19, 1932.
In 2014, for work reasons, I had to live in Maracaibo for a period of 6 or 7 months, during which time I took the opportunity to get to know much of the city.
Teatro Baralt
El Teatro Baralt es una edificación de estilo neoclásico destinado a las representaciones teatrales, dancísticas y musicales, situado a corta distancia de la Plaza Bolívar de la ciudad de Maracaibo, en el occidente venezolano.
Su construcción se inicia el 28 de julio de 1877 a cargo del ingeniero Manuel de Obando, y finalmente, luego de seis años de trabajos, es inaugurado el 24 de julio de 1883, con una capacidad para poco más de 400 espectadores. Entre los eventos más importantes que se presentaron en el teatro, destaca que este fue el primer escenario donde se proyectó una película cinematográfica en Venezuela, lo cual ocurrió el 11 de julio de 1896.
Posteriormente, la edificación es demolida en 1928 con la finalidad de ampliar su aforo hasta casi 1000 personas, siendo reconstruida de acuerdo al diseño del arquitecto belga León Jerome Höet, reinaugurándose el 19 de diciembre de 1932.
En el año 2014, por razones laborales, me ví en la necesidad de residenciarme por un lapso de unos 6 o 7 meses en Maracaibo, tiempo en el cual, aproveché para conocer gran parte de la ciudad.
