Nostalgia
Nostalgia is a term that comes from the union of the classical Greek words "nóstos", "return", and "álgos", "pain"; associated with a feeling of sadness intermingled with pleasure and affection when thinking of happy times in the past.
Invented by a Swiss physician in the late 17th century, it was originally used to describe a medical diagnosis applied to mercenary soldiers. Today, it describes a bittersweet longing for the past.
This photograph taken a few years ago, corresponds to the street "Los Lanceros", located in the historic center of Puerto Cabello, a short distance from the coast that borders this port city.
To modify the original picture, I used the editing tools offered by the PicsArt application, as I have described in previous posts. I hope you enjoy it.
La nostalgia es un término que proviene de la unión de las palabras del griego clásico "nóstos", "regreso", y "álgos", "dolor"; asociado a un sentimiento de tristeza entremezclado con placer y afecto cuando se piensa en tiempos felices del pasado.
Inventado por un médico suizo a finales del Siglo XVII, originalmente se empleaba para describir un diagnóstico médico aplicado a los soldados mercenarios. En la actualidad, describe un anhelo agridulce por el pasado.
Esta fotografía tomada unos años atrás, corresponde a la calle "Los Lanceros", ubicada en el casco histórico de Puerto Cabello, a corta distancia de la costa que bordea a esta ciudad portuaria.
Para modificar la imagen original, empleé las herramientas de edición que ofrece la aplicación PicsArt, como lo he descrito en publicaciones anteriores. Espero que la disfruten.
