The World of XPILAR - B&W PHOTOGRAPHY AND ART CONTEST WEEK #076 - Killer Bee [ENG/ESP]
"Words are like bees – some create honey, and others leave a sting."

Killer Bee
This small bee, which I managed to photograph during a recent visit to my mother's home, is commonly known as the Africanized honey bee or East African lowland honey bee, and is a subspecies of domestic bee.
It is native to southern, central and eastern Africa and was introduced to Brazil in the 1950s, when researchers were experimenting with this species, seeking improvements in beekeeping practices in tropical areas. Unfortunately, some specimens were accidentally released, spreading to South and Central America and also to the south of the United States.
The hybrids resulting from the cross with the European bee are called Africanized bees or killer bees. This is a bee with a very aggressive defensive behavior that has caused and continues to cause the death of people and animals.
Their sting is no more poisonous than that of a European bee, however, they respond more quickly than European bees when disturbed, and send three to four times as many workers to repel a threat, chasing an intruder a great distance from the hive.
This is my entry for the B&W Photography and Art contest. This is an initiative of @axeman. I hope you enjoy it.
