CITYSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY AND ART CONTEST / WEEK #134 / the same city
Old and new... In this city, which I am trying to get used to, there are very few old buildings left, and the architecture of the new one surprises me with some absurdity. There is always the impression that all the houses just poured out of the box and as they lay down, they still stand, completely without any harmony with each other. As many architects, so many homegrown styles. It's like a crazy competition with each other, who will overcome. And no one is overpowering in this mess.
The old part of the city has been preserved on two intersecting streets. One of them descends from the mountain, the other cuts this mountain. Here, historical mansions are treated quite carefully, and new houses are built with similar architecture. In the next photo, a house with red frames and an imitation of a London telephone booth at the entrance, built recently, but it is difficult to distinguish it from the next one, which is already 200 years old. If it weren't for those red frames, of course, it would have completely merged into a single style.
The next one after the historic house is also new, but this is already more noticeable due to the finishing with facing bricks. Then there are also houses interspersed: old-new, old-new. Something is closed for restoration, due to severe destruction. And how it will return is unknown.
I love only old houses built from natural materials, but there are fewer and fewer such houses suitable for living. It's sad to realize this.
