Today, I will take you to a corner of my country. I don't write much about Bulgaria, but there are many beautiful places. Let's start with our time stop now!

Nestled at the base of the grand Stara Planina mountain range. With its calm feeling and peaceful environment Ichera is a spot where it seems like time doesn't move. This village enclosed by the pure beauty of nature gives you a peaceful and quiet place. ⛰️

Ichera is filled with charming wooden and stone houses, typical of old style Bulgarian village construction, like those from a long time ago. These houses have shown their strength throughout the years showcasing the craftsmanship of the builders. The houses were built by the people themselves during a period of high birth rates and several generations lived together in these homes. 👩🏻‍👩🏻‍👧🏻‍👦🏻

These traditional homes filled with old world charm and nostalgia tell stories of times long past. Inside, you will find a treasure trove of vintage items that evoke a sense of history and heritage. 🤩

The cooking stove is wood fired and very old, yet it works perfectly. Besides tea it is also used to prepare food. Standing in front of it creates a cozy atmosphere. 🥘

The preparation of Turkish coffee is very popular in Bulgaria, presumably due to the 500 years of Ottoman rule we were under. The utensils are made of copper. The utensils are old, but the coffee prepared in them is significantly different from what we drink nowadays. Seeing a working coffee grinder is truly impressive and such a one can be found in an antique store and it will undoubtedly be quite expensive. ☕

The iron is so heavy and I just wonder how they had the strength to iron clothes back in the day, wow! 🤓

In today's time, how many of us use a gas lamp? This one still works, and it's from a different era! 🔥

Cats are a common part of the rural landscape, without which Bulgaria just wouldn't be the same. 🐾

Bulgarians used to hang "chan" pots on their house doors. People believed that chans were like the voice of the house. The cleaner and clearer the chan, the better it could listen to the Bulgarian roots and bring health and strength to the home. The sound of the chan is also seen as a symbol of wealth, joy, pride and happiness. 🍀

Flowers play a significant role in the lives of the people here adorning not only the yards but also the fronts of the houses. 🌸

There is so much tranquility and a sense of timelessness here that it makes me wonder how we manage to navigate our fast paced lives filled with fast food, little sleep and lots of work. We miss out on so much beauty and serenity, while life keeps moving forward never waiting. 🧬

The small streets are so peaceful. There are no cars, traffic lights, or hurried people. Here, time has simply stopped and immersed itself in the sounds of birds, the scent of flowers and the coolness from the mountains. 🌄
