WOX TRAVEL CONTEST | WEEK 4 | Charming Colmar
Colmar just hanging out in Northeast France not too far from Germany maybe around 20 minute drive or so. A few years ago i spent a day in this cool little town. The streets feel like they are from another time and the vibes are just so chill. It is like you stepped into a fairytale. This charming town is home to more than 70 000 people. It's been around for like over a thousand years and in all that time it's been swinging between French and German vibes.
The town's mascot is the stork. Back in the 60s these spring messengers vanished because their wetland homes dried up. Around 1980 only three stork nests were left in this region and those were barely holding on. So locals, officials and nature lovers joined forces to bring the storks back. Now there are more than 700 storks hanging out in this part of France. It is like stork city. You will spot stork stuff everywhere, on buildings, as toys and all sorts of souvenirs.
You can totally explore Colmar in a day without rushing around, because it is a tiny town. The streets are beautiful, everywhere there are lovely flowers and the walk is truly enjoyable. Not to forget mentioning the food which, as i assume you know is good. Well, maybe not as much as Italian cuisine ☺️
What makes Colmar even cooler is that it is got these cute little waterways like streets but for boats. These water streets hook up to a river called the Ill River which is like the thread that ties Colmar to the Rhine river.
And something i didn't know is that the Christmas market is very popular and is one of the oldest in Europe. Imagine a winter tale and magic happening then. Warmth, Christmas lights, tasty food and good red wine. I think that would be a magical way to spend the holiday season with family, loved ones or friends. Enjoy

Thank you so much! 😊
I can easily stay for a few Christmases, what a beautiful city full of great anecdotes and above all that small but fascinating charm, what a landscape I was delighted to meet.
thanks for sharing
Beauty, romantic, charm! I'm sure it will be very cozy for the Christmas holidays 🎄
