WOX LANDSCAPE/SEASCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY AND ART CONTEST WEEK #182 / Glacial Wonderland Spectacle

Describing the breathtaking beauty of the Perito Moreno Glacier is no easy task , it's a place that leaves an indelible mark on your soul. Located in the Los Glaciares National Park, about 80 km from El Calafate, alongside Lake Argentino, this natural wonder stands tall at around 70 meters above the water, with an impressive ice thickness of up to 170 meters. Reaching the glacier involves a boat ride, and forget about going solo – access is allowed only with licensed tour guides!

Before embarking on this journey, we were equipped with crampons for walking on the ice. After a brief instructional session, we set out on the path through this icy kingdom. The experience is nothing short of magical, surrounded by the pristine, frozen landscape.

When the group inquired about the difficulty of the route, our guide assured us that it wasn't challenging. I'll be honest, strapping on those ice crampons initially felt a tad odd, but you adapt surprisingly fast. If you're not someone who frequents hiking trails or isn't accustomed to trekking, this outing might throw you a bit of a challenge, but mark my words, it's destined to be etched into your memory as one of the most unforgettable experiences. 💯

With a moderate pace and a lot of attention, the journey transforms from being not just visually stunning but also pleasantly invigorating. 👌

Our guide informed us that one of the most spectacular sights here is witnessing the glacier's ice breaking off, creating a grandiose spectacle accompanied by an awe-inspiring sound. Even without personally witnessing such an event, the sheer sight of the glacier is nothing short of astonishing.

When the ice melts and shifts, creating tension and numerous cracks in and around it, lagoons and mini waterfalls form. We learned that it's just a visual trick, but the blue hue of these cracks and cavities adds a special beauty to the surface of the glacier. 🤩

The beauty of the landscape and the ice was so extraordinary that it felt like stepping into a movie set. Indescribable and surreal. 🎬

After boarding the boat once again, and a short bus ride, we reached the northern flank of Perito Moreno. The pathways created, allowing you to get as close as possible and watch the spectacle from the front row, are a jackpot for sure. 😜

Our tour guides surprised us by preparing whiskey, and mind you, not in plastic but in glass cups! It was a warming and delightful touch for the perfect end to the our icy adventure. 🥃 Enjoy
