The trash can of history has a lot of crumpled paper with different inscriptions on it. This includes a lot of different professions as well. For example, after PC and printers became well-spread, typewriters went completely out of use - and the profession of “typist” as well. It was so widespread throughout all of the 20th century, but became totally extinct by the end of it. At the beginning of the century there was a profession that today seems absolutely exotic: a street cleaner of horse shit. Yes, yes, cars replaced horses not momentarily, for many decades horses walked along the city streets - and pooped on them. By the way, this was precisely the reason why “galoshes” (rubber shoes over warm felt shoes) were so popular (galoshes are easier to clean from this certain substance). And so on. But I digress.
В мусорной корзине истории лежит много мятой бумаги, на которой что-то написано. В том числе, это всевозможные профессии и должности. Например, ушли из обихода печатные машинки - и вымерла профессия "машинистка", ("пишбарышня"), столь распространенная весь ХХ век. А еще в начале века существовала профессия, которая сегодня нам кажется абсолютно экзотической: чистильщик улиц от конского дерьма. Да, да, машины заменили лошадей не в один день, и многие десятилетия лошади ходили по улицам города - и какали на них. Кстати, именно это было причиной того, что овувь типа "галоши" была так популярна (галоши проще отчистить от этой самой субстанции). Но я отвлекся.
Municipal lawn-trimmer. I suspect that this man’s profession is called a “landscaper,” but actually his job is to combat the greenery growing in the city. Such people endlessly, in rounds, fight with what inevitably grows again, and ultimately they win - by destroying all the environment. Of course, it takes time.... After decades of their activity the city is left with completely dead soil, dead dust, on which nothing grows. This is one of my _ most hated _ professions. I prefer the city would remain uncultivated, prefer to see weeds growing luxuriantly on the lawns.
Подозреваю, что профессия этого человека - назывется "озеленитель", но его работа состоит на самом деле в борьбе с растущей в городе зеленью. Такие люди бесконечно, круг за кругом, борятся с тем что неизбежно вырастает снова, и в конечном счете - выигрывают, разрушая экологию. После них в городе остается полностью убитая почва, мертвая пыль, на которой ничего не растет. Это одна из самых ненавидимых мной профессия. Я предпочитаю чтобы город оставался неокультуренным, чтобы на лужайках пышно рос бурьян.
Janitor, or street cleaner - much more useful profession.

I saw this scene during a historical festival. They showed the profession of a carpenter, carpentry tools... and there were goats with a couple of logs - everyone could try how difficult this work is. Check out this child's facial expression! The Queen is delighted...
Эту сценку я увидел во время исторического фестиваля. Показывали профессию плотника, плотницкие инструменты.... и стояли козлы с парой бревен - каждый мог попробовать, насколько это непростой труд. Оцените выражение лица этого ребенка! Королева в восхищении...
One more note to the bouquiet - seller at a shop. In my opinion, it is a very difficult and exhausting job - to stand on your feet all day, be busy all the time, never have the feeling that “the job is done” - because the “volume of the job” is vague, endless... and endless task requires an infinite volume of time, right?
На мой взгляд, очень трудное и изматывающее дело - стоять целый день на ногах, все время быть занятым, никогда не испытывать чувства что "дело сделано" - потому что "объем дела" неопределенный, размытый, бесконечный... бесконечное дело требует бесконечного объема времени.
And the very last thing. Handmade! People install artistic mosaics from pieces of smalt. (Most of the metro stations in our city are decorated using this technique).
И самое последнее. Ручная работа! Люди монтируют художественную мозаику из кусочков смальты. (Именно в этой технике украшено большинство станций метрополитена в нашем городе).
