The city where I live is famous for its residential houses' courtyards. These are small enclosed spaces full of surprises and even one may say -- living their own lives. You never know what you may stumble upon inside a courtyard, which deviations from the expected "normality" awaiting you there: unusual self-made architecture, art, graffiti on the walls, cats, plants and flowers - desperate and noble attempts of inhabitants to somehow ennoble the walls and five meters of asphalt, which they have to look at every day during all their life. They are truly an extraordinary microcosm in its own right.
Surveying the yards is an interesting obsession, and it can be very rewarding. Unfortunately, due to the said compact space, it is very difficult, near impossible to capture the whole picture, in same way as the human eye sees it. The photographs below show one of the courtyards at Galernaya Street, St.Petersburg. It's an interesting space... I hope I was able to capture the yard's essence it these photos, at least partly; vintage soviet fisheye lens was used here. Unfortunately, photos require manual focusing with this lens (which is not my long suit), so most of the photos turned out of focus, and I was not too happy with resulting photo set. But yesterday I went through my photos for a few hours, considering selection for this blog, and decided to present exactly this yard. Enjoy!
And this one goes as a bonus. Actually that was 1st photo I selected to present you.
This is another interesting courtyard in a completely different district (Petrogradka). After the collapse and ruining of one of the houses, the remaining hole turned out to stay unbuilt - thus, inbetween the expensive real estate in the center of the city was formed this wasteland, which in few years have overgrown with weeds. Sounds like an absolute fantasy, isnt it? I don't think it will last long, tho... but for now, the locals do enjoy all this greenery and settle down this (quite big) courtyard, making places to sit, drink beer, lie down, hang out etc...

А в чём сложности ручной фокусировки? Он достаточно резкий объектив с большой ГРИП.
Да, это был он. Сложность ручной фокусировки в том, что контроль за резкостью в нужной точке запаздывает; результат обычно виден только при просмотре на большом дисплее, а тогда фокусироваться уже поздно.
Тут можно пойти на небольшой компромисс. Чуть больше зажать диафрагму и навестись не сколько на объект, сколько поместить объект в зону ГРИП. Может понадобится чуть увеличить ISO если света маловато.
Но ведь в камере должен быть режим увеличения масштаба при ручной фокусировке. В Соньках этот режим называется "лупа".
У камер кэнон его аналог, наверное, называется 'Live view', но моя камера им не снабжена, так что я не могу попробовать. Увы. Фотографирую с этим объективом почти наощупь.
Live view это другое. Это когда на дисплее или в "глазок" ты видишь то, что получится на матрице (в Сони на матрице по факту получается чуть темнее).
В Олимпусах (у меня есть версия 410) есть вариант "живого изображения" на монитор, но там это не совсем Live view. Но при этом есть возможность увеличивать изображение для точной фокусировки. Просто там оптический видоискатель, что имеет свои минусы (но и плюсы тоже:)
