Hi friends!

Regardless of the style in which we draw or the area in which we use our drawings, the use of geometry will always be present. so it is useful and advantageous to have knowledge of some basic rules of geometry that can help us at some point.

Independientemente del estilo en el que dibujemos o el ámbito en el que utilicemos nuestros dibujos, el uso de la geometría siempre estará presente. por lo que es útil y ventajoso tener conocimientos de algunas reglas básicas de geometría que nos pueden ayudar en algún momento.

If we have a segment "ab" like the one in the image above, to divide it into two equal parts, we can, starting from point "a", take a measurement with a compass, a piece of cardboard, or a string, as close as possible to the point " b" and project it in an arc above, as shown in the image below.

Si tenemos un segmento "ab" como el de la imágen superior, para dividirlo en dos partes iguales, podemos, partiendo del punto "a", tomar una medida con un compás, un cartón, o una cuerda, lo más cerca posible del punto " b" y proyéctelo en un arco arriba, como muestro en la imagen de abajo.

Then, using the same measurement we've already taken, we draw another arc, in the opposite direction (from point "b") so that it intersects the first arc drawn earlier.

Luego, usando la misma medida que ya hemos tomado, dibujamos otro arco, en la dirección opuesta (desde el punto "b") para que se cruce con el primer arco dibujado anteriormente.

We repeat the same process, using the same measurement, first from point "a", this time drawing the arc downwards...

Repetimos el mismo proceso, usando la misma medida, primero desde el punto "a", esta vez dibujando el arco hacia abajo...

and then repeating the same process from point "b".

y luego repitiendo el mismo proceso desde el punto "b".

Now we can draw a line from the upper intersection of the arcs to the intersection of the lower arcs.

Ahora podemos dibujar una línea desde la intersección superior de los arcos hasta la intersección de los arcos inferiores.

With this simple process, we will have obtained an exact division of a segment without the need to measure it, just using some simple geometric relationships.

Con este sencillo proceso habremos obtenido una división exacta de un segmento sin necesidad de medirlo, tan solo utilizando unas sencillas relaciones geométricas.
