The Signs of Spring
Sometimes I am convinced that the weather around the world is shifting. If I speak to relatives and people who live abroad as well as pay attention to our own weather patterns here, it seems that in places like the UK where Summers are never anything like ours in terms of temperature, are now warming up significantly - and yet ours don't seem to be as hot as they used to. Our Winters also seem to be getting a lot colder.
This Winter in particular has been a bitterly cold one and I have been soooo grateful for the fire place because without it, I think I would have spent the entire season in bed, because it has just been too damn cold! We have had a lot more hail this Winter than we usually do as well... and as far as snow, though it is almost unheard of for it to snow anywhere other than on the very tippy tops of the mountains here in SA - this Winter that was not the case.
There has been snow all over the place - including on the ground. In fact, just yesterday I saw a post about the fact that it was snowing on Table Mountain. It does not snow on table mountain - EVER! haha! - but there it was! Let me see if I can find something to show you...
Crazy I tell you, lol! So, as I took a walk around my garden the other day... I was absolutely DELIGHTED to suddenly spot my little daffodils! I always forget that they are even there, and it is always such a wonderful surprise to be reminded that they haven't actually died, haha - they were just resting and waiting to bounce up and remind me that warmer days are coming! Daffodils are Spring flowering bulbs and though they are technically a teensy bit on the early side, their "message" was a most welcome one!
I LOVE Winter, don't get me wrong... in fact I have probably said that several times here, but it really has been a cold one and I am definitely looking forward to some warmer days ahead - not only that, but one of the things I love most about the Summers here in South Africa... is the GORGOUSLY long days, where the sun is out until past 8pm in the evening - it is just magic!
The sun is out today, but there is definitely still snow all around us in the distance because as I sit here and type this, I cannot feel my fingertips lol... so to that, I say... ROLL ON SUMMER!
