Just a weekend ramble...

So, last week we decided that on Friday we would do pizza and movie night at home. Build and bake your own pizzas and then @judethedude gets to choose the movie we watch. Well, the pizza making went down well, although I was a party pooper half way through and decided to put a pot of spaghetti on the boil for myself rather than have pizza. Why? you are probably asking... well, I am not much of a pizza fan... I mean I will eat it if I have to, but to me it is like cardboard food haha! So, I guess our Friday night turned into pizza and pasta night - no matter, the boys were happy.

Jude picked out quite a family oldie for us to watch - he is a big animal lover, so enjoys stories like this one which was called "Air Buddies", which was a heart warming story about a very cute, talking pack of puppies who were trying to reunite with their mom and dad. Not the best movie (old effects and all, lol) but that was not at all the point - it was about time together and the choice in movie was his after all.

Herbie on the other hand, had a LOT to say the entire way through the movie... barking at pretty much every second scene with these pups marching left and right over the TV screen. We only managed to get him to calm down eventually when plopping him in front of the fire place.

Saturday kicked off with some beautiful weather - despite there still being a pretty bitter Winter bite in the air. There was some triathlon event happening in the centre of town, which Dave was pretty interested to check out so we headed off that way pretty early and decided to have some breakfast while we were there.

I absolutely love the waterfront of Hermanus because there is always a hub of activity there and such a feel good vibe, no matter what is or isn't going on. Having gone through the week with fasting until the early afternoon every single day, it is needless to say that having a full breakfast in the morning was reaaaallllyyyy good, lol! Also, there is never a bad time for a latté

I actually had no idea that Sunday was Mothers day, but Dave did and so Sunday also started off with a little mini road trip to a local farm house restaurant called "Die Plaas Kombuis" (The Farm Kitchen). We have eaten there several times before and it is always a wonderfully homely experience... although, this time we were in for a little bit of a surprise.

They had removed their normal menu completely and only had a set Mothers Day menu, which was also not mentioned at all when Dave made the booking. The price of the set menu was just absolutely insane and I simply could not justify that amount of money for the three of us - especially when I know that Jude was unlikely to get through more than one course and also doesnt eat desserts. It did not even include a complimentary drink of any sort, which I thought was a pretty poor show.

So, sadly... we opted to leave and head through to town. We actually ended up at the same place we were the day before. It is such a great place to eat, their menu is impressively extensive, the food always great and the atmosphere awesome.

We got there and along with their normal menu, they had a mothers day three course set menu (including a complimentary mimosa) and it was half the price of the place we had just come from. We never ended up ordering the set menu... but the point being, the other place was grossly over priced.

Anyhooo, we were all happy with the decision to move and as a bonus for me... there was live music too, which is ALWAYS welcomed with open arms :)

I don't need a lot to make me happy from the inside out... and this weekend was particularly lovely! I got to spend pretty much every waking hour with the two people I love more than anything in this world, but it was particularly special to have so much time from Jude... you know how it goes, as an almost 15 year old, spending time with the folks kinda gets an eye roll most days haha!

But he was a total gentlemen the whole weekend and mommies little sweetheart, which made it more like a mothers day weekend for me, rather than just a Sunday. I am very blessed.
