Nature by the side of the road - 9 Photos and 1 Panorama
La Palma is a balcony towards the nature
Small photographic report of the center of the island of La Palma
As I have already said on several occasions, La Palma is a balcony towards nature, the stars or the universe. It seems impossible that the natural beauty of a developed European island can be so enjoyed just a few steps down the road. Imagine if we went into the heart of the island, where there are no roads or a single artificial light that pollutes the night.
We are a few kilometers from the tunnel that crosses the mountain range and divides the island between east and west. It is a small, demographically undeveloped natural area, lonely and quiet, between said tunnel and the next town, called El Paso.
From here we can see one of the entrances to La Caldera de Taburiente, the true natural heart of the island, a gigantic volcanic crater eroded for thousands of years by rain and wind. |

We can also see some extinct volvans, the first of a long line that reaches the south of the island. |

This photo is of the mountain range that divides the island. The most characteristic thing about it is the sea of clouds that sometimes forms. Clouds from the east fall down the mountain range to the west, creating a very beautiful visual effect. |

UPDATE / ACTUALIZACIÓN
The trade winds, The Alisios, come from the northeast bringing the clouds that go over the mountain and fall on the valley as if it were a cascade of water. This is called Mar de Nubes (SeaClouds).
