Three hours looking at the starssteemCreated with Sketch.

A story and I don't want it to be, this is the story of a young man who felt that his life was wasted in a naive way. He spent days and nights working hard to achieve a future that he imagined over the years. As he grew older, he noticed that little by little his time was ending and it was more likely that he served another person more than his own being. The dreams that were once built in his mind were shattered with constant blows before the wall of reality that faced him no matter how hard he fought for it. He lived to improve his life but not his being.

He used to be the center for his friends and loved ones, he had great admiration for those who shared his table and enjoyed the stories exchanged in such a genuine way that it seemed unreal to think that all that he lived was what really mattered. Sharing and being part of those little time lapses that were detached from everything that lived, was what he appreciated more than anything as he noticed the importance of friendship.

Where those moments where you want the laughter and good vibes to be infinite and not finite in that appreciated space between good company, where you don't know how much time you have left to be there, where you don't know if it will be the last time or the first of many, where you simply enjoy the situation and ignore the inherent concern of what happens when all that spark is over and the last goodbye comes with the threads of the universe that decide the course of each heavenly body that comprises the great cosmos.

Without realizing what he was doing ... he alienated everyone and separated himself from the world as society knew him. It eliminated its networks and its presence in cyberspace, where the highest density of content lay in its existence. He spent time exiled at his own decision for having spent five long years of mental chaos where there were only fragments of subjective happiness that was tied to external people and not to his own understanding of the reality in which he was passing.

In his spiritual retreat he discovered the value of friendship and simple pleasures. He understood the meaning of a slow melody that moved his neurons and not his body abruptly and uncontrollably. He learned to forgive and accept, appreciate bad times as rewarding experiences that fill the soul, he channeled the merits that he once received due to his great work and gave way to a mental healing of what was happening in him. The despair he once had about his future seemed absurd recognizing that what mattered most were those who were once with him in the most decadent moments. When he understood all this he realized that he was never empty, he was only in a limbo in which he worried a thousand times about materialistic appreciations that clouded his being.

He understood that it is better to spend three hours looking at the stars than ten seconds in front of a screen.

Absolutely stunning story! I am absolutely impressed.

Although concerning the contest you did not leave an open ending.... If you want to edit it, to make your amazing story according to the rules, please do so, the deadline is not reached yet.

Little hint: you do not need much to make it an open ending that will keep people in suspense.

Can you believe I didn't see this comment of yours? 😧 And I just saw who qualified for the award! 😥 It will be waiting for the next edition of the contest!

Awwww sorry, i did try to reach out in multiple ways to make sure you all had the chance to read it and change it.... well my next contest won't be a short story contest, but i will make sure to mention you, so you can participate.

Don't worry i know you did the best. We definitely need to chat on another social network. See you on discord or telegram?

Hello, what a beautiful story, I wish you lots of luck. I love looking at the stars, they make me evoke memories, reflect and have nice moments of introspection. Success in the contest. Hugs

Ty very much for your good wishes!!

Great participation, @Jacorv!! Good luck on the contest!!
Best wishes for life and projects!!

@Jacorv there are 5 hours remaining for the deadline, please add an open ending. Like I wrote before with your story it is easy to do so. You only need one or two sentances that allow, that this story could continue. We need an ending that lets the reader wonder how it would go on.

If not I cannot see this as valid entry because of the violation of the rules. I'm sorry.

@Jacorv :( I'm so sorry.... but the entry is not valid, because it violates the rule of an open ending... :( Thank you so much for the effort and dedication :)
