The World of XPILAR - LANDSCAPE/SEASCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY AND ART CONTEST WEEK #107 - Just a pine tree
It's just a pine tree (in Latin Pinus), a magnificent tree that I know no equal to (well, it's debatable, of course, but I personally just love pine trees)) They say there are more than 100 species of pine (I have an ordinary pine in my photo), and they grow from the Equator to the Arctic. As for the name, there are different hypotheses: one of the two versions produces the Latin name of the tree from the Celtic word "pin", which means "rock", "mountain", that is, growing on rocks, the other - from the Latin words "pix", "picis", which means "resin", that is, a resinous tree.
