I remember the first time I saw my grandmother with a gold tooth, it really caught my attention. It was certainly common for teeth to be made of gold back then. It was funny because it raised a lot of questions in children when they saw those teeth.

Yes, I think nowadays we do not see or better to say that we see less people with golden teeth and I am pretty sure the children will also ask today some questions if they see such teeth :)
