A Meticulous Observations Of ORI OLOOKUN. (sculptural work )
Hi fellas love to show you what Nigeria or black called this sculptural work Ori Olookun their deity's.
Ori Olóòkun showing the deep trace of black Naturalism and identity.
Things like this are called orisha in Yoruba land i.e spirit or deity. Olokun is believed to be the parent of Aje, connected with sea.
Ori olookun,orisha of great wealth and of the underneath of the ocean. Olokun is worshiped as the leader of all bodies of water and for the authority over other water deities.
Ori Olookun is highly honored for its ability to give great wealth, health, and prosperity to their believers. Communities in both West Africa and the African view Olokun variously as female, male, or androgynous.
Ori olokun was made of bronze was unearthed or excavated by German ethnologist Leo Frobenius who was the first person to spread the level of high civilization in Nigeria. In (1938).
Which was discovered at ile ife the cradle of Yoruba race. Its was majorly discovered at their sacred place.
Leo Frobenius was move and impressed with the sculptural works compared to Greek sculptural work.
I actually used Ori Olookun to engage my student further more on moulding techniques with clay.
This was done with my students showing and teaching them what you they can made out of clay and different types of clay we have.
We actually have primary and secondary clay.
I took the fermented plastic clay to class showing them how to use clay and control it. I actually used addictive techniques after that i smooth the work with spatula and incised the lines on it.
After getting dry which was supposed to be fired but due to the school did not have enough facilities. Then i make it more interesting by spraying it in Gold colour. All the students were surprised and astonished to see the finished work.
The students were very grateful and thankful for the knowledge about both history of Ori Olookun and the sculptural work been made infront of them.
The school founder was very happy to see the zeal and lime light am giving to visual art. He actually acknowledge my efforts towards the successful of the work.

Thanks leveuf exactly the student were amazed and surprise about the medium and it was their first time seen that type of clay not the usual red clay they know before. Including some of the teachers around.
The student actually for in love with the practical class including the other departments like science and commercial students.
Its was great time for me engaging the student both practical and the theoretical aspects of it.
