Water Colour Portrait of a Young Woman - Painting Process
Hi everyone, today I am sharing another watercolour portrait commission and the process that went into creating it. For this one I explored keeping it simple by just focusing on three analogous colours - red, orange, yellow while also having some of the drip effect that I had in my other paintings. I noticed however, this combination did not quite work for the face and the final result would look better if I made it look more like skin tone. For this I added hints of blue to the colour orange and white paint to lighten it creating a much better final result. I also used burnt umber watercolour paint for the darkest tones in the hair, eyes, mouth etc. for a better more realistic finish.
Process
Framed: Completed on A3 300gsm watercolour paper over several hours.
