The Union Brewery in Bremen has a long and rich history dating back to the 19th century. It was founded in 1904 through the merger of several breweries, including the "Schlachte-Brauerei" and the "Union-Brauerei AG". It was located in the heart of the city, close to the Weser, which gave it a strategically favourable location for the transport of raw materials and the distribution of its products.

The brewery experienced a period of growth and success over the following decades. It produced a variety of beers, including lagers, pilsners, wheat beers and other specialities that were popular in the region and beyond. The Union beers were prized for their quality and unique flavour and won several awards at national and international brewing competitions.

During the Second World War, the brewery suffered severe damage from air raids, but it was rebuilt after the end of the war and continued its production. In the following decades, the Union Brewery adapted to changing market conditions and modernised its facilities to remain competitive.

In the 1990s, Union-Brauerei merged with other breweries and became part of larger brewery groups. This move was part of a trend in the brewing industry in which smaller breweries merged in order to survive the growing competition from multinational brewery groups.

Despite these changes, Union-Brauerei remained an important part of the brewing culture in Bremen and beyond. It continued to be involved in local events and supported charitable organisations. Its brewhouse became a favourite meeting place for locals and tourists alike to enjoy the region's traditional beers.
