A good friend of mine gambled too much, racked up 10's of thousands of pounds worth of debt which his parents had to bail him out of and he was sent to rehab. When he got out of rehab, he did it again. So his parents bailed him out again and back into rehab he went. He's "clean" now and paying off the debts to people like me who lent him a significant sum of money without knowing about his problem (but was more understanding than those demanding blood and his parents money).
So despite it being "a great way to spruce up any game", it's also a great way of ruining your life.
